The Small Things

I was looking back at some of my posts and noticed that I have left out some small things along the way. These little details, although small changes, have really made a big impact overall. So, I'm rounding up some of the small things I've done around the house into one handy-dandy tell-all post.

First up is removing the bi-fold doors. We had two sets of these in the house and they were actually nice sets of doors. I know why they were in the house - to close off one half of it that wasn't used and thus save on electricity bills. But, the placement of these was all wrong for my taste. I want the open and airy feeling and bi-fold doors are the opposite. One set was to the hall way and the other set closed off the sun room:

Why, oh why, would you want to close off the sun room? Seeing the sun set in the huge window and french doors makes me smile every evening. Yes my friends, these had to go as soon as the floors were refinished.

Next up is removing the chair rail, if you can call it that. It looked more like an out-of-place piece of wood stuck on the wall. It was only on one wall in the dining room and it abruptly stopped when it reached the bar. It just looked cheap. It had to go too.
This puny chair rail was removed when we got new counter tops in the kitchen. And after it was removed, found out that the dining room used to be a minty-green color.
Those are the only two small things I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there are a lot of other small things that have happened that I've forgotten about. As I'm sure you know, when you get started on a project, lots of things happen without taking pictures. Or you get excited about the changes and start working and then don't blog about every little detail - like removing chair rails and bi-fold doors. My apologies, but now you should be caught up.
